Realize that mere cleverness has no place in spiritual affairs. Artifice and artificiality are truly impediments to spiritual progress. It is when cleverness increases and chokes sincerity and straightforwardness in spiritual matters, and in the relationship between God and Man, that the Avatar comes. You may have a costly transistor or watch with you, but if you do not know how to use it efficiently they are mere lumber. Now think what a wonderful machine you yourself are! Should you not know how to operate it and get the best results out of it? Ancient Indian seers discovered the art of operating this human machine, but their descendants have allowed that art to decline. If you have the thirst to know it, you can light the lamp of your life from that of the sages and experience joy and bliss.

ஆன்மீக விஷயங்களுக்குப் புத்திசாலித்தனம் இருந்தால் மட்டும் போதாது என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். உண்மையில் யுக்தியும் செயற்கைத்தனமும் ஆன்மீக முன்னேற்றத்திற்கு தடைகளே. புத்திசாலித்தனம் அதிகரித்து ஆன்மீக விஷயங்களில் நேர்மையையும் ஒளிவுமறைவின்மையையும், கடவுளுக்கும் மனிதனுக்கும் உள்ள உறவையும் குலைக்கும் போது, அவதாரம் நிகழ்கிறது. உங்களிடம் விலைமதிப்பான வானொலிப் பெட்டியோ கடிகாரமோ இருந்து, அவற்றை எவ்வாறு சரியாக உபயோகப்படுத்துவது என்று நீங்கள் அறியாமல் இருந்தால் அவை வெறும் துண்டுகளே. இப்பொழுது நீங்கள் எத்தகைய ஆச்சரியமான இயந்திரம் என்பதனைப் பற்றிச் சிந்தியுங்கள்! அதனை எவ்வாறு இயக்குவது, அதன் மூலம் சிறந்த பயன்களை எவ்வாறு அடைவது என்பதைப் பற்றி நீங்கள் அறிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டாமா? பண்டையகால இந்திய முனிவர்கள் இந்த மனித இயந்திரத்தை எவ்வாறு இயக்குவது என்பதனை அறிந்து கொண்டார்கள், ஆனால் அவர்களது சந்ததியினர்கள் அந்தக் கலையை அழிந்து போக விட்டுவிட்டார்கள். நீங்கள் அதனை அறிய வேண்டும் என்ற தாகம் கொண்டிருந்தால், முனிவர்களின் வாழ்க்கை விளக்கைக் கொண்டு உங்கள் வாழ்க்கை விளக்கை ஏற்றிக் கொள்ளுங்கள்.
