Every one of you has in possession a ticket for liberation from the cycle of birth and death. But most do not know the train that has to be boarded; many get down at intermediate stations, imagining them to be the terminus and wander helplessly in the wilderness, or are carried away by sights and scenes. Until the wound heals, and the new skin is formed and hardens, the bandage is essential. So too, until Reality is realized, the balm of faith, holy company and holy thoughts must be applied to the ego-affected mind. It is dedication to the Lord that sanctifies all activities. He is the Prompter, the Executor, the Giver of the required strength and skill, and the Enjoyer of the fruit thereof. So dedication must come naturally to you, for all is His, and nothing is yours. Your duty is to believe that He is the impeller of your activities and draw strength from that belief.

So long as the consequence of Karma persists, you are bound to be born again and again to finish the consumption thereof. The slate of Karma has to be wiped clean so that your account of birth and death can be settled and closed with no balance. The Name of the Lord can light the spark of love within you to ignite the fire of Spiritual Wisdom, which will guide your mind towards this goal. Just as two branches of a tree, when grated one against another for some time generates enough heat to set the tree on fire, so too, continuous and sincere repetition of the names of the Lord will light the spark of wisdom within you. The holy Bhagavad Geetha says, Jnanagni dagdha karmanam – ‘The flames of wisdom reduce to ashes the effects of all activities’; they do not affect one anymore just like a rope that has been reduced to ash can bind no more.

உங்கள் கர்மா இருக்கும் வரை, அது முழுதாகச் செலவழிக்கப்படும் வரை நீங்கள் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் பிறந்தே தீர வேண்டும். உங்கள் பிறப்பு மற்றும் இறப்பின் கணக்கு மீதமில்லாமல் தீர்க்கப்பட்டு கர்மா எனும் பலகை சுத்தமாக துடைக்கப்பட வேண்டும். உங்கள் மனதை இந்தக் குறிக்கோளை நோக்கி இட்டுச் செல்வதற்குத் துணையாக கடவுளின் திருநாமம், உங்களுள் அன்பின் பொறியை ஏற்றி அது ஆன்மீக ஞானம் எனும் தீயை மூட்டிவிடும். எவ்வாறு இரண்டு மரக்கிளைகள் சிறிது நேரத்திற்கு ஒன்றோடொன்று தேய்க்கப்பட்டால் அந்த மரத்தையே எரித்துவிடும் அளவிற்கு வெப்பத்தை ஏற்படுத்துமோ அவ்வாறே, விடாது, உளமார கடவுளுடைய திருநாமத்தை ஜபித்தால் உங்களுள் ஞானத்தை பொறியை அது ஏற்றிவிடும். புனிதமான பகவத் கீதை, “ஞானாக்னி தக்த கர்மணாம்” – “அனைத்து செயல்களின் பலனையும் ஞானத்தின் கொழுந்துகள் சாம்பலாக்கிவிடும்” – என்று கூறுகிறது. எவ்வாறு சாம்பலான கயிறு அதனையும் கட்டி வைக்காதோ அவ்வாறே அவையும் செயலிழந்துவிடும்.

Man is the monarch of all animals. Though the elephant lives longer, the lion is more fierce, the eagle more far-seeing, the cock more punctual in early rising, the cow more imbued with the spirit of sacrifice and so on, human birth alone has in it, the potentialities that can be brought out by proper culture. You are born with a helpless lamenting cry; you should die with a smile of joy. That is the purpose of the years between. But those years are wasted now. People are tossed about from one want to another, one grief to another, until they are blinded by despair and exhausted by foiled pursuits. Most illnesses are due to this despair and exhaustion. God alone is your anchor, who will save you from stress and storm. Do not neglect or ignore Him in your life.

மனிதனே அனைத்து மிருகங்களுக்கும் தலைவனாக விளங்குகிறான். யானை நீண்ட காலம் வாழ்ந்தாலும், சிங்கம் மிகவும் ஆக்ரோஷமாக விளங்கினாலும், கழுகால் நீண்ட தூரம் பார்க்க முடிந்தாலும், கோழி முதலில் விழித்து நேரம் தவறாமல் இருந்தாலும், பசு அதிக அளவில் தியாக உணர்வு கொண்டிருந்தாலும், சரியான பண்பாட்டினால் அடையக் கூடியவற்றை மனிதப் பிறவி மட்டுமே அடைய முடிகிறது. நீங்கள் பிறக்கும் பொழுது வருத்ததுடனான அழுகையுடன் பிறக்கிறீர்கள்; இறக்கும் பொழுது மகிழ்ச்சியுடனான புன்னகையைக் கொள்ளுங்கள். இவற்றின் நடுவில் வாழ்ந்த வருடங்களின் பலன் இதுவே. ஆனால் அந்த வருடங்கள் இப்பொழுது வீணடிக்கப்படுகின்றன. மக்கள் ஒரு ஆசையிலிருந்து மற்றொரு ஆசைக்கும், ஒரு துயரத்திலிருந்து மற்றொரு துயரத்திற்கும், நம்பிக்கையின்மையால் குருடாக்கப்பட்டும், தொடர முடியாத குறிக்கோள்களால் களைப்பாக்கப்பட்டும் அலைக்கழிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். பெரும்பாலான நோய்கள் இந்த நம்பிக்கையின்மை மற்றும் களைப்பால் தான் உருவாகின்றன. கடவுள் மட்டுமே உங்களை மன அழுத்தத்திலிருந்தும் புயலிலிருந்தும் காப்பாற்றவல்ல நங்கூரமாக உள்ளார். உங்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் அவரை உதாசீனப்படுத்தாதீர்கள், ஒதுக்காதீர்கள்.

You know only the present that is happening before your eyes; you do not realise that the present is related to the past and is preparing the course of the future. Each birth wipes out the memory of the one already experienced. The tree came from the seed and the seed from the tree and so on. You may not know which came first, tree or seed, but you can easily put an end to the cycle by frying the seed. You do not realise that the end of this cycle of birth and death lies in your own hands. The scriptures and holy books serve this very purpose. These are not meant to mislead you. That is not the desire of the sages who wrote down these annals and their own experiences. It is to tell mankind the truth about oneself.
