Everyone wants to be happy. Such a desire is natural and it springs from the fact that your true nature is bliss. Bliss is God but somehow people don’t get that! You are born of joy (ananda), the basis of your life is ananda, and your goal must also be ananda. Truly speaking, it is not difficult to know what the basis and goal of life should be. Prahlada got it! He realised that God is Omnipresent and saw unity in diversity. He clearly perceived Narayana to be the substratum of everything in creation and happily surrendered to Him. His father Hiranyakasipu was just the opposite. He saw diversity in unity and became deluded by the multiplicity of forms in Creation, each with its own name. Clearly understand that you originate from God, that your life’s undercurrent is God, and your final destination also is God. Bliss should be the goal in your life, and seek it in all earnestness.

அனைவரும் சந்தோஷமாக இருக்கவே விழைக்கிறார்கள். அந்த ஆசை இயல்பானதே. உங்கள் உண்மையான இயல்பு ஆனந்தம் என்பதனால் தான் இந்த ஆசை தோன்றுகிறது. ஆனந்தமே கடவுள்! ஆனால் மக்கள் எப்படியோ அதனைப் புரிந்து கொள்வதில்லை! நீங்கள் ஆனந்தத்திலிருந்து பிறந்தவர்கள், உங்கள் வாழ்வின் ஆதாரமும் அந்த ஆனந்தமே, உங்கள் முடிவான குறிக்கோளும் அது தான். உண்மையில், வாழ்வின் ஆதாரத்தையும், குறிக்கோளையும் அறிந்து கொள்வது கடினமானதே அல்ல! ப்ரஹ்லாதன் அதனை அடைந்தான்! கடவுள் எங்கும் நிறைந்துள்ளார் என்பதையும், வேற்றுமையில் உள்ள ஒற்றுமையையும் அவன் உணர்ந்தான். படைப்பிலுள்ள அனைத்திற்கும் ஆதாரம் நாராயணனே என்பதனைத் தெளிவாக உணர்ந்து, மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் அவரிடம் சரண் புகுந்தான். அவன் தந்தை ஹிரண்யகசிபு அதற்கு எதிர்மாறாக இருந்தான். அவன் ஒற்றுமையில் வேற்றுமை கண்டு, படைப்பிலுள்ள பலவேறான உருவங்களையும், அவற்றின் பெயர்களையும் கண்டு பிரமையில் இருந்தான். நீங்கள் கடவுளிடமிருந்து தோன்றினீர்கள் என்பதையும், உங்கள் வாழ்வின் உள்ளோட்டம் கடவுள் என்பதையும், உங்கள் முடிவு நிலை கடவுள் என்பதையும் தெளிவாகப் புரிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். ஆனந்தமே உங்கள் வாழ்வின் குறிக்கோளாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அதனை அடைவதற்கு நீங்கள் மிகுந்த உள்ளார்வத்துடன் விழைய வேண்டும்.

Shivarathri is a day when you should establish friendship between the mind and God. Shivarathri makes one aware of the fact that the same Divinity is all-pervasive and is to be found everywhere. It is said that Shiva lives in Kailasa. But where is Kailasa? Kailasa is our own joy and bliss. It means that the Lord lives in the Kailasa of joy, bliss and delight. If you can develop that sense of joy and delight in our mind, then your heart itself is the Kailasa where Shiva lives. How can one get this joy? Joy comes and stays with you when you develop purity, steadiness and sacredness. There is no use in observing Shivarathri once a year. Every minute, every day, every night, you should think of Divinity and sanctify your time, for the Time Principle itself is Shiva.

Live in truth, you will then experience Divine Bliss. Faith in God promotes love. Love leads to peace. Peace prepares the way for truth. Where there is faith there is Love, Where there is Love there is Peace, Where there is Peace there is Truth. Where there is Truth there is Bliss, Where there is Bliss there is God. The Divine manifests Himself in many forms and is worshipped as such, for the joy to be derived from it. Truth is one, regardless of nation or religion. The names and forms of human beings may vary, but the Supreme in them (Sath-chith-ananda) does not vary. It is eternal and changeless. Embodiments of Divine Love! Strike down the walls that separate man from man. Get rid of differences based on caste and creed. Develop firm faith in the oneness of Humanity. Cultivate love in your hearts. Then nations will be united, prosperous and happy.

நீங்கள் உண்மையில் வாழ்ந்தால் தெய்வீக ஆனந்தத்தை அனுபவிப்பீர்கள். கடவுளின் மேல் கொள்ளும் நம்பிக்கை அன்பை வளர்க்கிறது. அன்பு அமைதிக்கு இட்டுச் செல்கிறது. அமைதி சத்தியத்திற்கு வழிவகுக்கிறது. நம்பிக்கையிருக்கும் இடத்தில் அன்பிருக்கிறது. அன்பிருக்கும் இடத்தில் அமைதியிருக்கிறது. அமைதியிருக்கும் இடத்தில் சத்தியமிருக்கிறது. சத்தியமிருக்கும் இடத்தில் ஆனந்தமிருக்கிறது. ஆனந்தமிருக்கும் இடத்தில் கடவுள் இருக்கிறார். இறைவன் பல உருவங்களில் தோன்றுகிறார். அதன் மூலம் பெறப்படும் மகிழ்ச்சிக்காக அவர் அவ்வாறாகவே வணங்கப்படுகிறார். எந்த தேசமாக இருந்தாலும், எந்த மதமாக இருந்தாலும் சத்தியம் ஒன்றே. மனிதர்களின் பெயர்களும் தோற்றங்களும் வெவ்வேறாக இருந்தாலும் அவர்களுள் இருக்கும் பரம்பொருள் (சத் சித் ஆனந்தம்) வேறானதில்லை. அது முடிவில்லாத்தது, மாறாதது. ஒரு மனிதனை மற்றொரு மனிதனிடமிருந்து பிரிக்கும் சுவர்களைத் தகர்த்திடுங்கள். சாதி மத பேதங்களை விட்டொழியுங்கள். மனித சமுதாயத்தின் ஒற்றுமையில் திட நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளுங்கள். உங்கள் இதயங்களில் அன்பை வளர்த்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள். அவ்வாறானால் தேசங்கள் ஒற்றுமையாகவும், செழிப்பாகவும், மகிழ்ச்சியாகவும் இருக்கும்.

The glory of the Divine – the richness, fullness, extent and the depth of Divine experience has to be experienced. It cannot be expressed through any amount of words or plays. You must feel that it is your highest destiny to acquire that experience. You are not a despicable creature, born in slime or sin to eke out a drab existence and be extinguished. You are a mixture of the mortal and immortal (Deha and Deva). Liberation is the means to be free from grief and live in joy. And it is easy to accomplish this. All you need to do is to place all your burdens on God. That will make you carefree, and griefless. Take everything as a Divine Play of the Lord you adore and love. No matter whatever happens clap your hands in bliss and joy, for all is His Divine Play and you can be as happy as He is, for His plans are working, and they are for your highest good!

All worldly pleasures are transient and temporary. Very often they result in sorrow and disappointment. You often experience loss, depression and confusion and have no contentment. Know that lack of contentment is the real loss (Asantrupto nijo nashtah). There is no limit to desires. One feels hungry, another is thirsty. If the thirsty man is offered water, he is not satisfied, he wants a cool drink. When he is given a cool drink, next he wants ice cream, and so on. He is not satisfied with anything. Realize that there is no end to desires for material things in the world. To get rid of these desires, one must turn their mind towards God. The purpose of human birth is to realise the inherent Divinity. That is the way to achieve contentment and lasting bliss. God alone is the source of enduring bliss.

அனைத்து உலக இன்பங்களும் நிலையில்லாதவை, நிரந்தரமற்றவை. வெகுவாக அவை துயரத்திலும் ஏமாற்றத்திலும் தான் முடிவடைகின்றன. நீங்கள் அடிக்கடி இழப்பும், மனச்சோர்வும், குழப்பமும் கொண்டு, திருப்தியடையாமல் இருக்கிறீர்கள். அதிருப்தி தான் உண்மையான இழப்பு (அஸந்த்ருப்தோ நிஜோ நஷ்ட:) என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். ஆசைகளுக்கு எல்லையே இல்லை. ஒருவன் பசியடைகிறான், வேறொருவர் தாகம் கொள்கிறான். தாகம் கொண்ட மனிதனுக்குத் தண்ணீர் அளிக்கப்பட்டால், அவன் அதனால் திருப்தி கொள்வதில்லை. அவன் குளிர்பானத்தை கேட்கிறான். அவனுக்கு ஒரு குளிர்பானத்தை அளித்தால், அதன் பிறகு அவன் ஐஸ்க்ரீமைக் கேட்கிறான். அவன் எதனாலும் திருப்தியடைவதில்லை. உலகப் பொருட்களின் மேல் கொள்ளும் ஆசைகளுக்கு முடிவே இல்லை என்பதனை நீங்கள் உணருங்கள். இந்த ஆசைகளை நீக்குவதற்கு, ஒருவர் தன் மனத்தைக் கடவுள் பால் திருப்ப வேண்டும். மனிதப் பிறவியின் குறிக்கோள், உள்ளுறையும் தெய்வீகத்தை உணர்வதே ஆகும். அதுவே திருப்தி மற்றும் நீங்காத ஆனந்தத்தைப் பெறும் வழியாகும். கடவுள் மட்டுமே நிலையான ஆனந்தத்தின் ஊற்றாக உள்ளார்.

You see and hear certain things during the day. But when you go to bed and dream during sleep, you are not aware of all this; you see and experience a new set of events, which seem as real, as impressive, and as significant as those you witnessed when awake. And when in deep sleep, nothing ‘is’, except probably the inner consciousness that you are. When you dream, the dream is real; when awake, the waking experience is as real as the dream was. The fact is, it is all a dream, a creation of the mind when the Atma (the true self) is reflected on it. Remove that mind, then there will be nothing on which the Atma reflects. The Atma shall then shine in its own splendour. Jnana (Wisdom) is passing from the dream stage to the waking stage, and realising the dream to be unreal. Seek the springs of bliss within you and happiness will be your lot, here and for ever. Believe that the bliss within you is derived from God who is your Reality.

நீங்கள் பகல் நேரத்தில் பல விஷயங்களைப் பார்க்கிறீர்கள், கேட்கிறீர்கள். ஆனால் நீங்கள் படுக்கைக்குச் சென்று தூக்கத்தில் கனவு காணும் பொழுது அவற்றைப் பற்றிய உணர்ச்சியே இல்லாமல் இருக்கிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் வேறொரு புதியதான, உண்மையாகத் தோன்றும், விழிப்பு நிலையில் கண்ட நிகழ்வுகளைப் போன்று மனதில் ஆழமாகப் பதியத்தக்க, நிகழ்வுகளின் தொகுப்பை அனுபவிக்கிறீர்கள். நீங்கள் ஆழ்ந்த உறக்கத்தில் இருக்கும் பொழுது, உள்ளுணர்வான உங்களைத் தவிர வேறு எதுவுமே இருப்பதில்லை. நீங்கள் கனவு காணும் பொழுது, கனவு நிஜமாக இருக்கிறது; விழிப்பு நிலையில் இருக்கும் பொழுது, அதுவும் கனவைப் போலவே நிஜமாக இருக்கிறது. உண்மை என்னவென்றால், இவையனைத்துமே ஆன்மா மனதின் மீது பிரதிபலிக்கும் பொழுது அதனால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டக் கனவு தான். மனதை விலக்கினால், ஆன்மா எதன் மீதும் பிரதிபலிக்காது. பின்பு, ஆன்மா தன் பிரகாசத்துடனேயே ஒளிரும். ஞானம் என்பது கனவு நிலையிலிருந்து விழிப்பு நிலைக்குச் சென்று, கனவு உண்மையல்ல என்று உணர்வதே ஆகும். உங்களுள் உள்ள ஆனந்தத்தின் ஊற்றுகளை நாடுங்கள். மகிழ்ச்சி உங்களுடையதாக, இன்றும் என்றென்றும் இருக்கும். உங்களுள் உள்ள ஆனந்தம் உங்கள் உண்மைத் தன்மையான கடவுளிடமிருந்து தோன்றுவதே என்பதனை நம்புங்கள்.

Those who plan to raise the standard of living today are watering the branches, the leaves and the blossoms of the tree of life. Instead, to nurture the tree, you must foster and water the root. So too, to lead a good life, you must foster and water the virtues, which are the roots, so that the flowers of actions, words and thoughts may bloom in fragrance and yield the fruit of service (seva), and the sweet juice of joy (ananda). Planning for food, clothing and shelter is only promoting the well-being of the cart. Also plan for the horse, which is the mind. The mind has to use the food, the clothing, the shelter and other objects in the Universe for the high purpose of escaping from the bonds of the ego to the Universal.

தம் வாழ்க்கைத் திறனை மேம்படுத்த விழைபவர்கள் வாழ்க்கை எனும் மரத்தின் கிளைகளுக்கும், இலைகளுக்கும், மலர்களுக்கும் நீர்ப் பாய்ச்சுகிறார்கள். ஆனால், மரத்தைப் போஷிக்க வேண்டுமென்றால் அதன் வேர்களுக்கு நீர்ப் பாய்ச்சிப் பராமரிக்க வேண்டும். அதே போல, நல்வாழ்க்கை வாழ வேண்டுமென்றால் நற்குணங்கள் எனும் வேர்களுக்கு நீர்ப் பாய்ச்சி அவற்றைப் பராமரித்தால், செயல்கள், சொற்கள் மற்றும் எண்ணங்கள் ஆகிய மலர்கள் மலர்ந்து, நறுமணம் வீசி, சேவை எனும் பழத்தை நல்கி, ஆனந்தம் எனும் இரசத்தை அளிக்கும். உணவு, உடை, தங்கும் இடம் ஆகியவற்றிற்காகத் தயாராவது என்பது ஒரு வண்டிக்குத் தேவையானவற்றை தயார் செய்வது போன்றதாகும். மனம் எனும் குதிரையையும் அதனுடன் சேர்த்துத் தயார் செய்ய வேண்டும். பிரபஞ்சத்துடனான அஹம்பாவத்தின் தளைகளிலிருந்து தப்பிக்கும் உயர்ந்த குறிக்கோளிற்காக மனமானது உணவு, உடை, தங்கும் இடம் மற்றும் பிறப் பிரபஞ்சப் பொருட்களை உபயோகித்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

Statesmen and elected representatives declare that they are trying their best to develop the resources, natural and human, and to provide on the basis of those resources, food, clothing, shelter, education, employment, security and health to the people. But the development of the moral and spiritual resources are neglected and the provision of peace and spiritual happiness is ignored. Happiness and peace do not necessarily follow when people are fed and clothed well, comfortably housed and highly educated, well employed or when there is no injury to health or security. There are quite a large number of people who have all these in plenty but are yet worried, in pain or discontented. Peace and happiness depend on what lies within and not on outer skill or riches. Every being is fundamentally Divine and so, the more one manifests the divine attributes of Love, Justice, Truth and Peace, the more joy one shall be able to give and receive.

அரசியல்வாதிகளும், தேர்வு செய்யப்பட மக்கள் பிரதிநிதிகளும் இயற்கை வளங்களையும், மனித வளங்களையும் மேம்படச் செய்து, அந்த வளங்களை ஆதாரமாகக் கொண்டு மக்களுக்கு உணவு, உடை, தங்கும் இடம், கல்வி, வேலை, பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் ஆரோக்கியத்தை அளிக்கத் தம்மால் முயன்ற அளவு முயற்சிப்பதாகப் பறைசாற்றுகிறார்கள். ஆனால் தார்மீக, ஆன்மீக வளங்கள் அலட்சியப்படுத்தப்பட்டு, அமைதி மற்றும் ஆன்மீக ஆனந்தத்திற்கான வழிமுறைகளும் உதாசீனப்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன. மக்கள் நன்றாக உண்டு, நல்ல உடைகள் உடுத்தி, சுகமான இல்லத்தில் தங்கி, நன்றாகப் படித்து, நல்ல வேலையில் சேர்ந்து, ஆரோக்கியக் கேடும் பாதுகாப்புக் கேடும் இல்லாமல் இருந்தால் மட்டும் ஆனந்தமும் அமைதியும் தோன்றிவிடாது. இவையனைத்தையும் நன்றாகப் பெற்றுள்ளவர்கள் அதிகமான எண்ணிக்கையில் உள்ளார்கள். ஆயினும், அவர்கள் கவலையிலும், வலியிலும், மனநிறைவில்லாமலும் உள்ளனர். அமைதியும் ஆனந்தமும் உள்ளுள்ளவற்றைச் சார்ந்தவை, வெளிப்புற திறன்கள் மற்றும் வளங்களின் மேலல்ல. ஒவ்வொரு ஜீவனும் அடிப்படையில் தெய்வீகமே. ஆகையால், ஒருவர் தெய்வீகப் பண்புகளான பிரேமை, நீதி, சத்யம் மற்றும் அமைதி ஆகிவற்றை அதிக அளவில் பின்பற்றினால், அதிக அளவில் சந்தோஷத்தை அளிக்கவும் பெறவும் முடியும்.
