The body is the chariot (ratha) of the individual (jeevi), who is the Master. Human birth is the glorious and precious opportunity amongst all living beings. The human body is the castle from which one can fight successfully against the foes of attachment and egoism. It is the boat by which one can cross the sea of change and chance. The realization of the reality within oneself, through relentless spiritual discipline is an arduous challenge – as fraught with dangers and calamity, like playing with fire or duelling with wild animals. Scriptures (Upanishads) have compared the spiritual aspirant’s path to that of a razor’s edge. One has to be alert, vigilant and fully trained to meet all emergencies. Use the precious opportunity of this human birth and leverage your intelligence, discrimination and detachment you are gifted with, to rise above all, and realize the Ultimate Reality.

தேகம் என்பது ஜீவி எனும் எஜமானரின் தேர் ஆகும். மனிதப் பிறப்பானது அனைத்து ஜீவராசிகளுக்கும் மேலான ஓர் அரிய வாய்ப்பாகும். பற்றுதல் மற்றும் ஆணவம் ஆகிய எதிரிகளை எதிர்த்துப் வெற்றிகரமாகப் போரிடுவதற்கு மனிதவுடல் ஒரு கோட்டையாக விளங்குகிறது. மேலும், அது மாற்றங்கள் மற்றும் வாய்ப்புகளைக் கொண்ட கடலைக் கடப்பதற்கு உதவும் படகாகவும் விளங்குகிறது. இடையறாத ஆன்மீக ஒழுங்கின் மூலம் ஒருவரினுள் உள்ள சத்தியத்தை,உணர்வது என்பது ஒரு நெருப்புடன் விளையாடுவதைப் போன்றும், காட்டு விலங்குகளுடன் விளையாடுவதைப் போன்றும், அபாயங்களும் பேரிடர்களும் கொண்ட ஒரு கடுமையான சவாலாகும். புனித நூல்களான உபநிஷத்துக்கள் ஒரு ஆன்மீக சாதகனின் பாதையை ஒரு கத்தியின் அலகிற்கு ஒப்பிடுகின்றன. அனைத்து அவசரங்களையும் எதிர் கொள்வதற்கு ஒருவர் விழிப்பாகவும், கவனமாகவும், நன்கு தேர்ச்சி பெற்றும் இருக்க வேண்டும். இம்மனிதப் பிறவியின் அரிய வாய்ப்பை உபயோகப்படுத்தி, உங்களுக்குக் கொடையாக அளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள புத்தி, பகுத்தறிவு மற்றும் பற்றின்மை ஆகியவற்றைப் பயன்படுத்திக் கொண்டு, அனைவருக்கும் மேலாக உயர்ந்து, சத்தியத்தை உணருங்கள்.

Egoism is the most dangerous illusion that has to be exploded and destroyed. Arjuna too suffered this ego. One day when Krishna brought the chariot back to camp, Arjuna wanted that like all charioteers, Krishna should get down first and open the door of the chariot for him. Krishna refused and insisted that Arjuna should alight before He does. At last Krishna won and Arjuna got down. As soon as Krishna left His seat and touched the ground, the chariot went up in flames! The fact was that the various fiery arrows that had the power of burning the chariot had actually hit the target, but due to the presence of Krishna, their igniferous powers could not manifest themselves. Realising this, humbled Arjuna; his egoism had a rude shock. He also realised that every action of Divinity was full of significance.

அஹங்காரம் என்பது வெடித்து அழிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய மிகவும் ஆபத்தான ஒரு மாயையாகும். அர்ஜுனனும் இந்த அஹங்காரத்தினால் தவித்தான். ஒருநாள் கிருஷ்ணர் தேரை கூடாரத்திற்கு எடுத்து வரும் பொழுது, அனைத்து தேரோட்டிகளைப் போல் கிருஷ்ணரும் தான் முதலில் இறங்கி தேருடையக் கதவை அவனுக்காகத் திறக்க வேண்டும் என அர்ஜுனன் கோரினான். கிருஷ்ணர் அதற்கு மறுப்பு தெரிவித்து அர்ஜுனனே தான் இறங்கும் முன்னர் இறங்க வேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தினார். கடைசியில் கிருஷ்ணர் வென்று அர்ஜுனன் கீழே இறங்கினான். கிருஷ்ணர் தன் இருக்கையிலிருந்து இறங்கி, தரையைத் தொட்டவுடனேயே தேர் தீக்கிரையானது! காரணம் என்னவென்றால், தேரைத் தீக்கிரையாக்கும் பல பொறி பறக்கும் அம்புகள் தம் இலக்கை சரியாகத்தான் தாக்கியிருந்தன. ஆனால், கிருஷ்ணர் அதன் மேல் இருந்ததால், அவற்றின் எரிக்கும் சக்திகள் அவற்றிலிருந்து வெளி வராமல் இருந்தன. இதனை உணர்ந்த அர்ஜுனன் பணிவடைந்தான்; அவன் அஹங்காரத்திற்கு ஒரு பலத்த அதிர்ச்சி ஏற்பட்டது. தெய்வத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு செயலும் பூரணமான உள்ளர்த்தம் கொண்டுள்ளதை அவன் உணர்ந்தான்.
