Repetition of God’s Name (japam) and meditation (dhyana) are the means by which you can accelerate the concretisation of Divine Grace, in the Name and Form you yearn for. The Lord has to and will assume the Form you chose, the Name you fancy and the way you want Him to be. Therefore do not change the Name and Form you adore mid-way; but select and stick to the One that pleases you most, whatever the difficulty you encounter or however long it takes! All agitations must cease one day, is it not? The dhyana of the Form and the japam of the Name – that is the only means for this task.

Take failures and victory coolly. To do the latter is a very difficult mental exercise. In a running race, the losers, when running neck to neck, prompt the winners to run faster. They inspire the grit, to put in that extra pace which brings victory to the winners. Hence, winners must actually be thankful to the losers for their victory. Those who did not win, I ask you not to lose your self-confidence. Never attach too much value to victory and defeat. All of you are born for far greater things than winning mundane races and competitions. Your destiny does not depend upon a game or an examination – it depends more upon your character, your will power and the grace of God.

Be eager and earnest to know more and more about the art of unperturbed happy living. One can advance only step by step and there is the danger of slipping down two steps when you climb one. What matters is the determination to climb, the resistance with which the tendency to slide is met, the yearning to rise, to progress, to conquer the lower impulses and instincts. If you have that, the hidden spring of power will surge up within you; the Grace of the Lord will smoothen your path. Keep the ideal before you; march on. Only those with ideals are respected and remembered with gratitude, for posterity.

சந்தோஷமாக வாழும் கலையைப் பற்றி மேலும் மேலும் அறிவதற்கு முனைப்புடனும் ஆர்வத்துடனும் இருங்கள். அனைவரும் ஒவ்வொரு அடியாகத் தான் முன்னேற முடியும். நீங்கள் ஒரு அடி மேலே முன்னேறும் பொழுது இரண்டடி கீழே சறுக்கும் அபாயம் இருக்கிறது. ஏறுவதற்கான உறுதியும், கீழே இறங்க வைப்பதை எதிர் கொள்ளவும், மேலெழும்ப ஆர்வமும், கீழ்த்தரமான உந்துதல்களையும் தன்மையையும் வெல்வதும் தான் முக்கியம். நீங்கள் அதைக் கொண்டிருந்தால், உங்களுள் மறைந்திருக்கும் சக்தி வெளிக்கிளம்பும்; கடவுளின் அருள் உங்கள் பாதையை சீராக்கும். உங்கள் இலட்சியத்தை முன் வைத்து பீடு நடை போடுங்கள். இலட்சியம் உள்ளவர்கள் தான் மதிக்கப்பட்டு, எற்றைக்கும் நன்றியுடன் நினைவில் கொள்ளப்படுவர்.

Schooling is not merely for food and delight, for earning a living and to enjoy leisure. Its true purpose should be to activate the qualities of wisdom in action, non-attachment and discriminatory power (Viveka, Vairaagya and Vichakshana). The root is education and the fruit should be virtues. Every school must shape its students into citizens, worthy of the country’s precious heritage and spiritual wealth. Otherwise, all schooling is a waste of time and money. Schools are the temples of the Goddess of Wisdom who grants to each child the wisdom to grasp the Ultimate Truth and acquire knowledge that will dispel ignorance for ever. The school must facilitate this and ensure stability in all the students to practice the virtues of Truth, Righteousness and Peace, through the blossoming of Love.

பள்ளிப்படிப்பு என்பது வெறும் உணவு மற்றும் கேளிக்கைக்காகவும், வாழ்வதற்கும் ஓய்வெடுப்பதற்கும் மட்டுமல்ல. அதன் நோக்கம் செயலில் ஞானத்தின் பண்புகளையும், பற்றின்மையையும், பகுத்தறியும் திறனையும் (விவேகம், வைராக்கியம், விசிக்ஷணம்) தூண்ட வேண்டும். கல்வி என்பது வேர், நற்குணங்கள் என்பது பழமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். ஒவ்வொரு பள்ளியும் மாணவர்களை, நாட்டின் மதிப்பு வாய்ந்த பாரம்பரியத்திற்கும் அதன் ஆன்மீகச் செல்வத்திற்கும் தக்கவாறு உருவேற்றவேண்டும். இல்லையெனில், பள்ளிக்கல்வி அனைத்தும் நேரம் மற்றும் பணத்தை வீணாக்குவதே ஆகும். பள்ளிகள், ஒவ்வொரு குழந்தைக்கும் ஆதிகாரணமான உண்மையைப் புலப்பட வைத்து, அஞ்ஞானத்தை நிரந்தரமாகப் போக்கும் ஞானத்தைப் பெற வைக்கும் ஞான தெய்வத்தின் திருக்கோயில்கள் ஆகும். பள்ளி இதற்கு அனுகூலமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். மேலும் அனைத்து மாணவர்களிலும், அன்பை மலர வைப்பதன் மூலம் சத்யம், தர்மம் மற்றும் அமைதி ஆகிய நற்குணங்களை நடைமுறைப்படுத்துவதற்கான திடத்தை உறுதிப்படுத்த வேண்டும்.

கீதையில் அர்ஜுனன் கிருஷ்ணனிடம், “மனம் என்ன எளிதாகக் கட்டுப்படும்படி உள்ளதா? மனதைப் போன்று ஒரு யானையால் கூட மனிதனை கட்டி இழுக்க முடியாது. அது தான்தோன்றித்தனத்தின் நாற்றங்காலாக உள்ளது. அதனின் பணிவின்மை, உறுதி மற்றும் பிடிவாதம் மிகுந்த வலிமையானவை. மனம் எந்த ஒரு இடத்திலும் தங்காது. மனதைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவது காற்றைப் பிடிப்பது போன்றும், நீரைக் கட்டிவைப்பது போன்றும் இருக்கிறது. எவ்வாறு ஒருவரால் மனதைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியும்? எவ்வாறு ஒருவரால் அப்படிப்பட்ட மனத்தைக் கொண்டு ஆன்மீக சாதனைகள் செய்ய முடியும்?” என்று வினவினான். இதனைக் கேட்டு கிருஷ்ணர் நகைத்துக் கொண்டே, “அர்ஜுனா! நீ மனதை நன்றாக வர்ணித்துள்ளாய். அதன் இயல்பை நன்கு அறிந்துள்ளாய். ஆனால் அது முடியாத செயல் அல்ல. மனதை எளிதாகக் கட்டுக்குள் கொண்டு வந்துவிடலாம். முறையான பயிற்சி (அப்யாஸம்), விடாத விசாரணை (விசாரம்) மற்றும் பற்றில்லாமை (வைராக்கியம்) ஆகியவற்றின் மூலம் மனதை நிச்சயமாக வெற்றி கொள்ள முடியும். சீரான பயிற்சியின் மூலம் எந்த ஒரு செயலையும் செய்யாமல் இருக்க முடியாது. கடவுளின் மேல் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டு, உன்னிடத்தில் சக்தியும், அருளும் இருக்கிறது என்ற திட உறுதியோடு பயிற்சி செய்தால் அனைத்து செயல்களும் எளிதாகிவிடும்”, என்றார்.
