A boat may be a small appliance, but it can take you across the river. A lamp may be a tiny device, but it can light your path across a jungle. A torch may illumine only a distance of two yards, and you may have to go two miles. Do not despair. What is required is your persistent effort! Hold the torch in your hand and walk on. With every step, the torch will illumine a few steps more and you can safely cross the two miles. But you must walk, without sitting idle by the roadside. Make the effort, move from one stage to another listening to God’s Glory, recapitulate His sweet messages and concentrate on Him. Let your every act be saturated with devotion. Devotion should not be something that adds spice to your life – it truly must be the very breath of your life. Devotion should inspire your every act, thought and word.

Waves originate in the upper layers of the sea. They are caused by the wind, so the wind can be said to have that power. So too, the mind of the intelligent person is full of thoughts and opinions. When the proper atmosphere is present, these spring up and roll in from all directions. In the same manner, the Lord is manifest in the picture or image that one worships, but is this due to any special excellence of the picture or image? No. The picture or the image remain as they are. The fact is that on account of the intensity of the devotion of the devotee, the Lord cannot desist from manifesting Himself for them. For that reason, He assumes – in stone, wood, or paper – the form that the devotee contemplates and meditates upon and worships. In order to fulfill the yearning of the devotee, the Immanent Basic Being of the Universe, will come in any Form, in anything, at any place.

அலைகள் கடலின் மேல் படுகைகளிலிருந்து தோன்றுகின்றன. அவை காற்றினால் உருவாக்கப்படுகின்றன என்பதால், காற்றிற்கு அந்த சக்தி இருப்பதாகக் கூறலாம். அது போலவே, புத்திசாலியான மனிதனின் மனம் எண்ணங்கள் மற்றும் கருத்துகளால் நிறைந்துள்ளது. சாதகமான சூழல் அமையும்போது, அவை குதித்தெழுந்து, எல்லா திசைகளிலிருந்தும் உருண்டோடி வருகின்றன. அது போலவே, கடவுள் ஒருவர் வழிபடும் ஓவியத்திலோ படத்திலோ இருக்கிறார். இது அந்த ஓவியத்திற்கோ படத்திற்கோ ஏதோ தனிச்சிறப்பு உள்ளது என்பதாலா? இல்லை. ஓவியமோ படமோ சாதாரணமாக தான் உள்ளது. உண்மை என்னவென்றால், பக்தனுடைய பக்தியின் தீவிரத்தால், கடவுள் அவர்களுக்காக தன்னைத் தொற்றுவிக்காமல் இருக்க முடியாது. அந்த காரணத்தினால், கல்லிலோ, மரத்திலோ, காகிதத்திலோ பக்தன் சிந்தித்து தியானிக்கும் உருவத்தைக் கொள்கிறார். பக்தனின் அவாவை பூர்த்தி செய்ய, எங்கும் நிலவி இந்தப் ப்ரபஞ்சத்தின் ஆதாரமான மெய்மை, எந்த உருவத்திலும், எதனுள்ளும், எந்த இடத்திலும் வருகிறது.
