We must have the awareness of the relative value of things; the discrimination between the real and relatively real. The gifts of reason and conscience must not be wasted through neglect. Your story should not be a repetition of that of the woodcutter, who was given a huge sandalwood forest as a reward, but, who out of sheer ignorance of the value of the trees, burnt the trees and sold them as charcoal at so much per bag! You ignore the Divinity that you really are and waste the opportunity to unfold it. Ignorance (ajnana) is imported from outside; what is native to you, what is within is wisdom (Jnana).

பொருட்களின், பிற பொருட்களுடனான ஒப்பீடு பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வு, அதாவது நிலையானவற்றிற்கும் நிலையில்லாதவற்றிற்கும் இடையேயான பகுத்தறிவு நமக்குத் தேவை. பகுத்தறிவு மற்றும் மனசாட்சி ஆகிய ஆற்றல்கள் உதாசீனத்தினால் வீனாக்கப்படக் கூடாது. ஒரு மாபெரும் சந்தனக் காட்டினை பரிசாகப் பெற்ற ஒரு விறகு வெட்டி, எவ்வாறு தன் அறியாமையால், அம்மரங்களின் மதிப்பை உணராமல், அவையனைத்தையும் எரித்து, கரியாக்கி, ஒவ்வொரு மூட்டைக்கும் விலை பேசினானோ, அவ்வாறு உங்கள் கதையும் இருந்து விடக் கூடாது! உங்கள் உண்மை இயல்பான தெய்வீகத்தை மறந்து, அதனை வெளிப்படுத்தாமல் வீணாக்குகிறீர்கள். அஞ்ஞானம் வெளியிலிருந்து உள்ளேற்றப்படுகிறது. உங்கள் உண்மை நிலையான ஞானம் உங்களுள் உள்ளது.

Egoism is the most dangerous illusion that has to be exploded and destroyed. Arjuna too suffered this ego. One day when Krishna brought the chariot back to camp, Arjuna wanted that like all charioteers, Krishna should get down first and open the door of the chariot for him. Krishna refused and insisted that Arjuna should alight before He does. At last Krishna won and Arjuna got down. As soon as Krishna left His seat and touched the ground, the chariot went up in flames! The fact was that the various fiery arrows that had the power of burning the chariot had actually hit the target, but due to the presence of Krishna, their igniferous powers could not manifest themselves. Realising this, humbled Arjuna; his egoism had a rude shock. He also realised that every action of Divinity was full of significance.

அஹங்காரம் என்பது வெடித்து அழிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய மிகவும் ஆபத்தான ஒரு மாயையாகும். அர்ஜுனனும் இந்த அஹங்காரத்தினால் தவித்தான். ஒருநாள் கிருஷ்ணர் தேரை கூடாரத்திற்கு எடுத்து வரும் பொழுது, அனைத்து தேரோட்டிகளைப் போல் கிருஷ்ணரும் தான் முதலில் இறங்கி தேருடையக் கதவை அவனுக்காகத் திறக்க வேண்டும் என அர்ஜுனன் கோரினான். கிருஷ்ணர் அதற்கு மறுப்பு தெரிவித்து அர்ஜுனனே தான் இறங்கும் முன்னர் இறங்க வேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தினார். கடைசியில் கிருஷ்ணர் வென்று அர்ஜுனன் கீழே இறங்கினான். கிருஷ்ணர் தன் இருக்கையிலிருந்து இறங்கி, தரையைத் தொட்டவுடனேயே தேர் தீக்கிரையானது! காரணம் என்னவென்றால், தேரைத் தீக்கிரையாக்கும் பல பொறி பறக்கும் அம்புகள் தம் இலக்கை சரியாகத்தான் தாக்கியிருந்தன. ஆனால், கிருஷ்ணர் அதன் மேல் இருந்ததால், அவற்றின் எரிக்கும் சக்திகள் அவற்றிலிருந்து வெளி வராமல் இருந்தன. இதனை உணர்ந்த அர்ஜுனன் பணிவடைந்தான்; அவன் அஹங்காரத்திற்கு ஒரு பலத்த அதிர்ச்சி ஏற்பட்டது. தெய்வத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு செயலும் பூரணமான உள்ளர்த்தம் கொண்டுள்ளதை அவன் உணர்ந்தான்.

The best means to stay in contact with the Higher Self at all times, is to follow the simple exercise of Namasmarana, the repetition of any one of the Names of the Lord; a Name that signifies the glory that lies embedded in every being. People indulge in all types of purposeless gossip, conversations and scandal. Many find time and interest in these degrading pursuits. But they have no inclination to awaken the Divine in them by constant remembrance of the Creator and His Splendour. See only those scenes that will foster this discipline; speak only of elevating and uplifting subjects; listen only to purifying topics; think and feel only pure thoughts and emotions. That is the way to develop the Divinity inherent in each one.

பரம்பொருளிடம் அனைத்து நேரங்களிலும் தொடர்பு கொண்டிருப்பதற்கு மிகவும் சரியான வழி, நமஸ்மரணை எனும் ஒவ்வொரு ஜீவனுள்ளும் உறையும் மகிமையைப் பாராட்டும் அவருடையை ஏதோவொரு பெயரை தொடர்ந்து உச்சரிக்கும் சுலபமான பயிற்சியைப் பின்பற்றுவதே ஆகும். மக்கள் பயனற்ற பல வம்புகளிலும், வீண் பேச்சுகளிலும், அவதூறுகளிலும் ஈடுபடுகிறார்கள். இந்த தரந்தாழ்த்தக் கூடிய நாட்டங்களிலும் ஈடுபடுவதற்குப் பலர் நேரத்தை கண்டறிந்து, நாட்டம் கொள்கின்றனர். ஆனால் அவர்களுக்கு, படைத்தவரையும் அவரது மகிமையையும் நித்தியமும் நினைவில் கொண்டு, தம்முள் உறையும் தெய்வீகத்தை எழுப்புவதற்கு நாட்டம் இருப்பதில்லை. இந்த கட்டுப்பாட்டை வளர்க்கும் காட்சிகளையே காணுங்கள்; உயர்த்தும் விஷயங்களைப் பற்றி மட்டுமே பேசுங்கள்; தூய்மைப்படுத்தும் தலைப்புகளையே கேளுங்கள்; தூய எண்ணங்களையும் உணர்ச்சிகளையும் மட்டுமே எண்ணி உணருங்கள். ஒவ்வொருவரிலும் உள்ள தெய்வீகத்தைப் பேணுவதற்கு இதுவே வழியாகும்.

The Universe is saturated with Divinity; there is nothing here which is not Divine. Always remember that God is the Base as well as the Superstructure, the inner motive and the outer movement. The body is the temple of the Lord; the atmosphere of this temple is by its very nature filled with love for all beings. The scriptures clearly declare that this understanding can be achieved through performing one’s duty, and then worshipping the Lord by dedicating to Him this duty. One’s intelligence is cleared of the dust of doubt and delusion, through dutifulness and dedication.

பிரபஞ்சம் தெய்வீகத்தால் நிறைந்துள்ளது; இங்கு தெய்வீகமற்ற எதுவும் இல்லை. கடவுள் தான் அடித்தளமும், மேலுள்ள உயர்கட்டமைப்பும், உள்ளுந்துதலும், வெளி அசைவும் என்பதனை எப்பொழுதும் நினைவில் கொள்ளுங்கள். உடல் கடவுளின் ஆலயம்; இந்த ஆலயத்தின் சூழல் இயல்பாகவே அனைத்து உயிர்களின் மேலும் உள்ள அன்பினால் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது. கடமையைச் செய்து, கடவுளுக்கு இந்தக் கடமையை அர்ப்பணித்து அவரை வழிபடுதலின் மூலம் இந்த உணர்வினைப் பெறமுடியும் என்பதனைப் புனித நூல்கள் தெளிவாக பறைசாற்றுகின்றன. கடமையுணர்வு மூலமும், அர்ப்பணிப்பு மூலமும், சந்தேகம் மற்றும் மாயையின் தூசியிலிருந்து ஒருவரது அறிவாற்றல் தெளிவடைகிறது.

Today, people’s behaviour is not good because their thoughts are polluted. And because their thoughts and actions have become perverted, the country is passing through troubles and turmoil. People have filled their mind with thoughts of mundane, ephemeral, and transient things. These thoughts are negative in nature; only those based on Truth are positive. If the feelings and intentions behind your actions are good, the results will also be good. Sacred thoughts, good words, and noble deeds are the true human values. Thoughts are your permanent assets. As is the thought, so is the mind. If thoughts are good, humanity will blossom into Divinity.

இன்று, மனிதர்களின் எண்ணங்கள் மாசடைந்துள்ளதால் அவர்களின் நடத்தை சரியாக இருப்பதில்லை. மேலும் அவர்களின் எண்ணங்களும், செயல்களும் நேர்மையற்றதாக இருப்பதால், நாடு துன்பங்களிலும் துயரங்களிலும் உழன்றுகொண்டிருக்கிறது. மக்கள் தமது மனங்களில் உலகம்சார்ந்த, நிலையில்லாத, மாறுதலுக்கு உட்பட்ட பொருட்களால் நிறைத்துள்ளார்கள். இந்த எண்ணங்கள் எதிர்மறையான இயல்பில் உள்ளன. உண்மை சார்ந்தவை மட்டுமே நேர்மறையானவை. உங்கள் செயல்கள் நல்ல உணர்வுகள் மற்றும் நல்ல உள்நோக்கங்களால் உந்தப்பட்டால், பலன்களும் நன்றாகவே இருக்கும். புனித எண்ணங்கள், நல்ல சொற்கள் மற்றும் மேன்மையான செயல்களுமே உண்மையான மனித மதிப்புகள். எண்ணங்களே உங்கள் நிரந்தர சொத்துகள். எண்ணம் எப்படியோ, மனதும் அப்படியே. எண்ணங்கள் நன்றாக இருந்தால் மனிதத்துவம் தெய்வீகமாக மலரும்.

சிவராத்திரி தினத்தன்று ஒவ்வொருவரும் மனதிற்கும் தெய்வத்திற்கும் இடையே நட்பு ஏற்படுத்த முயற்சி எடுக்கிறார்கள். ஒரே தெய்வீகம் தான் அனைத்திலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது என்பதையும் அனைத்து இடங்களிலும் காணப்படுகிறது என்பதையும் சிவராத்திரி உணர வைக்கிறது. சிவன் கைலாயத்தில் வசிப்பதாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது. ஆனால் அது எங்கே இருக்கிறது? கைலாயம் என்றால் சந்தோஷம் மற்றும் ஆனந்தம் என்று பொருள். கடவுள் சந்தோஷமும் மகிழ்ச்சியும் நிரம்பிய மனதில் வசிக்கிறார் என்று பொருள். எவ்வாறு மகிழ்ச்சியைப் பெறமுடியும்? நாம் தூய்மையும், உறுதியும், புனிதத்தன்மையையும் வளர்த்துக்கொண்டால் அது நமக்குக் கிடைக்கும். இதன்பிறகு, இதயம் அமைதி மற்றும் ஆனந்தத்தினால் நிரம்பி இருக்கும் கடவுளின் கோயிலாக மாறிவிடும். வருடத்தில் ஒருமுறை, சிவராத்திரியன்று மட்டும் கடவுளை நினைத்தால் போதாது. ஒவ்வொரு நாளும், ஒவ்வொரு இரவும், ஒவ்வொரு நிமிடமும் நீங்கள் தெய்வத்தை நினைத்து உங்கள் நேரத்தை புனிதப்படுத்துங்கள். நீங்களே அந்த சிவன், அந்த தெய்வீகம். உங்கள் உண்மைத் தன்மையாகிய இந்தத் சிவ தத்துவத்தை அறிந்து உணர முயற்சி செய்யுங்கள்.

நிரந்தர தாய்கள் இந்த உலகில் யாரும் இல்லை. தெய்வத் தாய் மட்டுமே நிரந்தர தாய் ஆவார். நீங்கள் ஆன்மீகக் குடும்பத்தில் ஒரு பங்கு வகிக்கிறீர்கள் என்பதை எப்பொழுதும் நினைவில் கொள்ளுங்கள். சத்யமே உங்கள் அன்னை, ஞானமே உங்கள் மகன், அமைதியே உங்கள் மகள், பக்தியே உங்கள் சகோதரன், யோகிகளே உங்கள் தோழர்கள். உண்மையான உறவினர்களான இவர்களே உங்களுடன் என்றென்றும் இருப்பார்கள். நீங்கள் இவ்வாறான உறவைக் கொண்டால், இப்படிப்பட்ட தோழமையைப் பேணினால், உலகத் தளைகளிலிருந்து விடுபட்டு, சுதந்திரமாக இருக்கமுடியும். வாழ்வின் ஒவ்வொரு நிமிடமும் தெய்வச் சிந்தனையுடன் இருங்கள். எங்கு இருள் இருக்கிறதோ, அங்கேதான் ஒளிக்கு மதிப்பு இருக்கும். எப்பொழுதெல்லாம் குழப்பமும் கஷ்டமும் உள்ளதோ, எப்பொழுதெல்லாம் பிரச்சனைகள் அதிகமாகின்றனவோ, அப்பொழுதெல்லாம் இறைத் தத்துவத்தை வெளிக் கொணருங்கள். அது இருள் சூழ்ந்த நேரங்களிலெல்லாம் நிச்சயமாக ஒளி அளித்து உங்களுக்கு சந்தோஷம் அளிக்கும்.
