Have you heard the story of the rabbit that borrowed from Mother Earth four paisa (pence)? The rabbit thought to itself, “If I run away as far as I can, from the place I received the loan, I will be free from the obligation”. So one day, the rabbit ran as fast as its legs could carry it. After a while, it sat down in great relief thinking, “Now no one will ask me to repay.” The rabbit was shocked, for at that very moment, it heard from the ground beneath, “Mother Earth is right under your feet! You cannot escape from me, however fast you run!” So too, you cannot run away from Divinity. Wherever you may go seeking refuge, the Lord demands good conduct, good habits, good thoughts and good company! Make use of this opportunity, accept this noble advice, select good company and strive sincerely to reach your goal!

நீங்கள் பூமித்தாயிடமிருந்து நான்கு காசுகள் கடன் வாங்கிய ஒரு முயலின் கதையைக் கேட்டிருக்கிறீர்களா? “கடன் வாங்கிய இடத்திலிருந்து நான் வெகுத் தொலைவு ஓடிப் போய்விட்டால், அதனைத் திருப்பிக் கொடுப்பதிலிருந்து நான் விடுபடலாம்”, என்று எண்ணியது. ஆகையால் ஒரு நாள், தன்னால் முடிந்த அளவு வேகமாக ஓடியது. சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து, ஒரு பெருமூச்சுடன் கீழே உட்கார்ந்தவாறு “இப்பொழுது என்னை யாரும் கடனைத் திருப்பித் தருமாறு கேட்கமாட்டார்கள்” என்று நினைத்தது. அக்கணமே, கீழிருந்த பூமியிலிருந்து, “பூமித்தாய் உன் கால்களுக்குக் கீழே தான் இருக்கிறேன்! எவ்வளவு வேகமாக நீ ஓடினாலும் என்னிடமிருந்துத் தப்பிக்க இயலாது!” என்றக் குரலைக் கேட்டவுடனே முயல் திகைத்துப் போனது. அதே போல, நீங்களும் தெய்வத்திடமிருந்து தப்பித்து ஓடிப் போக முடியாது. நீங்கள் எங்கு சென்று அடைக்கலம் தேடினாலும், கடவுள் நன்னடத்தையையும், நல்ல பழக்கவழக்கங்களையும், நல்லெண்ணங்களையும், நல்லோர் சேர்க்கையையும் தான் எதிர்பார்ப்பார்! இந்த வாய்ப்பைப் பயன்படுத்திக் கொண்டு, இந்த உயரிய உபதேசத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு, நல்லோர் சங்கத்தைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்துக் கொண்டு, உங்கள் குறிக்கோளை எட்டுவதற்காக மனமாரப் பாடுபடுங்கள்!,

When you feed the cow with fermented gruel so that it may yield more milk, the milk emits an unpleasant smell. When you engross yourself too much with the trifles of the world, your character and conduct will also become unpleasant. It would indeed be tragic to witness the downfall of a ‘child of immortality’, struggling in despair and distress. If only you were to ask yourself: “What are my qualifications? What is my position? What are the opportunities I am bestowed with?” Then you will soon realize your own downfall and make efforts to recover. Will a tiger, however hungry eat popcorn or peanuts? Stay focussed on the goal worthy of your lineage. Never slacken the effort, whatever be the obstacle, however long the journey. Keep your efforts on, in line with the dignity of your noble goals.
