Everyone wants to be happy. Such a desire is natural and it springs from the fact that your true nature is bliss. Bliss is God but somehow people don’t get that! You are born of joy (ananda), the basis of your life is ananda, and your goal must also be ananda. Truly speaking, it is not difficult to know what the basis and goal of life should be. Prahlada got it! He realised that God is Omnipresent and saw unity in diversity. He clearly perceived Narayana to be the substratum of everything in creation and happily surrendered to Him. His father Hiranyakasipu was just the opposite. He saw diversity in unity and became deluded by the multiplicity of forms in Creation, each with its own name. Clearly understand that you originate from God, that your life’s undercurrent is God, and your final destination also is God. Bliss should be the goal in your life, and seek it in all earnestness.

அனைவரும் சந்தோஷமாக இருக்கவே விழைக்கிறார்கள். அந்த ஆசை இயல்பானதே. உங்கள் உண்மையான இயல்பு ஆனந்தம் என்பதனால் தான் இந்த ஆசை தோன்றுகிறது. ஆனந்தமே கடவுள்! ஆனால் மக்கள் எப்படியோ அதனைப் புரிந்து கொள்வதில்லை! நீங்கள் ஆனந்தத்திலிருந்து பிறந்தவர்கள், உங்கள் வாழ்வின் ஆதாரமும் அந்த ஆனந்தமே, உங்கள் முடிவான குறிக்கோளும் அது தான். உண்மையில், வாழ்வின் ஆதாரத்தையும், குறிக்கோளையும் அறிந்து கொள்வது கடினமானதே அல்ல! ப்ரஹ்லாதன் அதனை அடைந்தான்! கடவுள் எங்கும் நிறைந்துள்ளார் என்பதையும், வேற்றுமையில் உள்ள ஒற்றுமையையும் அவன் உணர்ந்தான். படைப்பிலுள்ள அனைத்திற்கும் ஆதாரம் நாராயணனே என்பதனைத் தெளிவாக உணர்ந்து, மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் அவரிடம் சரண் புகுந்தான். அவன் தந்தை ஹிரண்யகசிபு அதற்கு எதிர்மாறாக இருந்தான். அவன் ஒற்றுமையில் வேற்றுமை கண்டு, படைப்பிலுள்ள பலவேறான உருவங்களையும், அவற்றின் பெயர்களையும் கண்டு பிரமையில் இருந்தான். நீங்கள் கடவுளிடமிருந்து தோன்றினீர்கள் என்பதையும், உங்கள் வாழ்வின் உள்ளோட்டம் கடவுள் என்பதையும், உங்கள் முடிவு நிலை கடவுள் என்பதையும் தெளிவாகப் புரிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். ஆனந்தமே உங்கள் வாழ்வின் குறிக்கோளாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அதனை அடைவதற்கு நீங்கள் மிகுந்த உள்ளார்வத்துடன் விழைய வேண்டும்.

You have come into the world to realise yourselves. You come fully equipped with all the instruments needed for that endeavour – viveka, vairaagya and vichakshana (discrimination, non-attachment and skill); and the urge to enlarge your love, enrich your emotions and ennoble your actions. But you have lost your way; you are caught in a morass and are confused by mirages and dreams which you take as real; you run after false colours and cheap substitutes. Remember that everything is subordinated to that supreme task. The body should be fed and kept free from disease. Why? So that it may be fit for spiritual discipline. Spiritual discipline for what? For the realisation of the truth about oneself. The subtle is the basis for the gross; the Divine is the basis for the Human.

உங்களை உணர்ந்து கொள்வதற்காகவே நீங்கள் இவ்வுலகிற்கு வந்துள்ளீர்கள். இந்த பிரயத்தனத்திற்குத் தேவையான விவேகம், வைராக்கியம் மற்றும் விசக்ஷணம் (பகுத்தறிவு, பற்றின்மை மற்றும் திறன்) ஆகிய அனைத்து கருவிகளும் கொண்டு ஆயத்தமாக வந்துள்ளீர்கள்; உங்கள் அன்பை விரிவாக்கிக் கொள்ளவும், உங்கள் உந்துதல்களை வளமூட்டவும், உங்கள் செயல்களை மேம்படுத்திக் கொள்ளவும் வந்துள்ளீர்கள். ஆனால் நீங்கள் உங்கள் வழியை மறந்துவிட்டீர்கள்; சதுப்புநிலத்தில் மாட்டிக்கொண்டுள்ளீர்கள், கானல் நீர் தேக்கன்களைப் பார்த்தும் கனவுகளைக் கண்டும் குழப்பமடைந்து அவை உண்மை என ஏற்றுக் கொண்டுள்ளீர்கள்; நீங்கள் பொய்யான வர்ணங்கள் மற்றும் கீழ்த்தரமான போலிகளுக்குப் பின்னால் ஓடுகிறீர்கள். இவையனைத்தும் மிகவுயர்ந்த தெய்வீகச் செயளிற்குக் கீழானவை என்று நினைவு கொள்ளுங்கள். இவ்வுடல் போஷிக்கப்பட்டு, நோயிலிருந்து விடுபட்டிருக்க வேண்டும். ஏன்? ஏனெனில் அது ஆன்மீகக் கட்டுப்பாட்டிற்குத் தக்கவாறு இருக்க வேண்டும். ஆன்மீகக் கட்டுப்பாடு எதற்கு? ஒருவருடைய உண்மையை உணர்ந்து கொள்வதற்காக. கண்ணுக்குப் புலப்படாததே கண்ணுக்குப் புலப்படுவதின் அடிப்படை ஆதாரம்; தெய்வீகமே மனிதனின் அடிப்படை ஆதாரம் ஆகும்.

Aspirants, focus your yearning and efforts on the right goal – to be never born again. You may be born in a good family or in favourable circumstances; but subsequent Karma in this life, may not ensure a good death, one that will let you escape the cycle of birth and death. Every one born must have that end always in view. No tree will yield fruits the moment you plant the seedling in your backyard. To reach that stage, you have to foster it with care over a long period of time, is it not? Similarly whatever result you seek, you have to follow through carefully the preparatory disciplines, without any break. Cultivate good habits of thoughts and actions in order to make the end of your life genuinely auspicious.

ஆன்மீக சாதகர்களே! உங்கள் ஆர்வத்தையும் முயற்சிகளையும், மீண்டும் பிறக்கவே கூடாது என்ற சரியான குறிக்கோளின் மீது செலுத்துங்கள்! நீங்கள் நல்ல குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்திருக்கலாம் அல்லது அனுகூலமான சூழ்நிலைகளில் இருக்கலாம்; ஆனால் அதன் பின் இந்த வாழ்க்கையில் செய்யப்படும் கர்மா (செயல்கள்), பிறப்பு மற்றும் இறப்பின் சுழலிலிருந்து உங்களைத் தப்பிக்க வைத்து நல்ல மரணத்தைக் கொடுக்கும் என்பது நிச்சயமானதல்ல. பிறந்த ஒவ்வொருவரும் இந்த முடிவையே குறிக்கோளில் வைத்திருக்க வேண்டும். விதையை உங்கள் வீட்டின் கொல்லைப்புறத்தில் விதைத்த உடனேயே அது மரமாக உங்களுக்குப் பழங்களை நல்காது. அந்நிலையை அடைந்திட, நீங்கள் அதனை நீண்ட காலம் கவனமாகப் பாதுகாத்திட வேண்டும் அல்லவா? அதே போல நீங்கள் எந்தப் பயனுக்காக விழைந்தாலும், அதனை கவனமாக, அதற்காகத் தயாராகும் கட்டுப்பாடுகள் மூலம், இடைவிடாமல் பின்பற்றிட வேண்டும். உங்கள் வாழ்வின் கடைத்தருணம் உண்மையாக மங்களகரமாக அமைந்திட, எண்ணங்களிலும் செயல்களிலும் நல்லப் பழக்கங்களை வளர்த்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்.

The goal of every life is knowing the Supreme, that is, attaining liberation; there can be no second aim. You are endowed with life, not for the purpose of building bungalows, acquisition of estates, accumulation of wealth, addition of progeny, earning of titles or ascent into higher rungs of social life. One’s greatness does not depend on these. The sweetest success in life lies in the winning of permanent bliss and perennial escape from grief and agitation. You are children of immortality. The heritage of immortality must be recognised and experienced; it must be won back. The bonds of name and form are temporary and must be removed. They are not genuine natural characteristics of the individual soul. Escape from grief and joy for a brief period of time is not a sign of real liberation. Real wisdom consists in recognising that you are pure bliss; bliss that persists from the past into the present and the future.

ஒவ்வொரு வாழ்க்கையின் நோக்கம் கடவுளை அறிதலே, அதாவது மோக்ஷம் அடைதலே ஆகும், வேறொரு இரண்டாம் நோக்கம் இருக்க முடியாது. மாளிகைகள் கட்டுவதற்கோ, எஸ்டேட்களை வாங்குவதற்கோ, செல்வம் சேர்ப்பதற்கோ, குழந்தைகளைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்வதற்கோ, பட்டங்கள் சம்பாதிப்பதற்கோ அல்லது சமூகத்தின் உயர்ப் படிகளுக்கு ஏறுவதற்கோ உங்களுக்கு இந்த வாழ்க்கை கொடுக்கப்படவில்லை. ஒருவரின் பெருமை இவற்றைச் சார்ந்தில்லை. வாழ்க்கையின் இனிமையான வெற்றி நிரந்தரமான ஆனந்தத்தைப் பெற்று, துன்பம் மற்றும் கலக்கத்திலிருந்து நிரந்தரமாக தப்பிப்பதே ஆகும். நீங்கள் அமரத்துவத்தின் குழந்தைகள். அமரத்துவத்தின் பாரம்பரியத்தை ஏற்று அனுபவிக்க வேண்டும். அதனை மீண்டும் பெற்றாக வேண்டும். பெயர் மற்றும் உருவத்தின் மேலுள்ள பற்றுதல்கள் நிரந்தரமற்றவை. அவை களையப்பட வேண்டும். ஜீவாத்மாவின் உண்மையான இயல்பு இவை இல்லை. இன்ப துன்பங்களிலிருந்து சிறிது நேரம் மட்டுமே தப்பித்திருப்பது உண்மையான மோக்ஷத்தின் குறியீடு இல்லை. உண்மையான ஞானம் என்பது, முற்காலத்திலும், தற்காலத்திலும், பிற்காலத்திலும் நிலைத்து நிற்கும் நிர்மலமான ஆனந்தம் தான் நீங்கள் என்பதனை உணர்வதே ஆகும்.
